I’m a Dad that runs on Jesus cornhole shirt
I am a card carrying old white lady I’m a Dad that runs on Jesus cornhole shirt who has an opinion on this topic. Here goes: In the Fifties music was all about love and all things related all wrapped up in nice pretty paper. They sang about love, steady girlfriends, breaking up, back together and happy ever after. But it still boiled down to the same thing - Sex. The Sixties started to push the limit, whatever the radio stations would allow. We were all fine upstanding people who would be so offended if the words sex, fucking, and screwing, would be heard in music . In the late Sixties, early Seventies we were angry! The music developed a social conscience, almost obscuring the love/sex thing. Then on to Disco, Grunge, and all the rest.

But there was something else creeping into our ears - I’m a Dad that runs on Jesus cornhole shirt RAP! It was raw, profane and brilliant. Shunned by middle America, and white folks in general because they didn’t get it! They didn’t understand that not everyone grows up in a nice neighborhood, with a nice house, nice mom and dad and a nice future ahead. Rap is a reflection of the other side of America. Life could be mean, unfair and that’s just how rap artists created the genre. Not all soft, squeaky clean, but how they saw life. The same angre, hate, love, pain, lose - just not how we were used to hearing it. I must admit when my 12 year old daughter secretly purchased a rap CD restricted to 18 and over sales. I was equally mortified when she played it on a church trip. Shock value I think and it worked!
